Kavada foundation is found in 2018 and it is based on our previous experience in working with children and young adults. We are people from different walks of life who got together around the idea that youngsters need the contact with nature in order to develop into intelligent and caring adults.
Kavada is a Bulgarian word which signifies the clothing children used to wear in the olden days. Kids in this clothing were allowed to play and discover the world, they did not have to help out in the daily chores. We believe that when children are allowed to discover how the natural world works they will become more caring of the nature and the living beings around.
We aim to create a place where kids can take part in growing their own food, caring for animals and observing the patterns in nature. We call this place Kondabayda. This is a word of a three year old boy which means a bucket. The bucket is an essential tool that he uses to water his garden, gather sticks and stones, collect eggs and climb on to reach stuff. We adopted it because it is so versatile as is the place we want to create so children can experience the diversity of the natural world.
